If you’ve read this far and think you might be able to help, then I think you should all fall into one of the following categories:
1. I’d like to sponsor you for walking up that big hill – I neither think of it as a holiday, nor do I think it will be easy. I accept at 5,895m there won’t be much air and it’s likely to be a cold, uncomfortable and tough experience. Good on you.
2. Hmm, I’m not convinced, but you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours – I want you to do something for me and I’ll pay you a fair rate. Ideas include baby/cat/dog/house sitting/walking, cleaning, gardening, fetching, carrying, waitressing, organising, removing spiders, anything I really can’t be bothered/don’t want to do myself.
3. No, it’s just not hard enough, I challenge you to do something else for the money, something tough, or embarrassing, or just plain silly. I then want you to blog about it. Perhaps I want you to be silent for a week, come to work in fancy dress, eat something strange, sing in front of a bunch of people, run a long way, dye your hair a funny colour, jump off something high or something else. I’ll make you an offer and if you accept I’ll sponsor you and the results will appear here! I’m going to make you work for it!
4. What can I say, I’m a materialist, I like things. I want to sponsor you to make me cakes, knit me booties, sell me your possessions.
